This three-day workshop will provide the student with instructional methods to develop a composition and create a dynamic pastel landscape painting from that composition. The student will learn how to select, simplify, and control elements in the landscape. Elizabeth will demonstrate the process of identifying strong subject matter, composing through the use of a value study, and then producing a pastel painting over an underpainting. She will focus on pushing color as well as becoming more aware of the play of light on surface. Students will receive abundant individual attention.
Instructor: Elizabeth Rhoades
9:30 am to 3:30 pm, with a one hour lunch break. Please bring a bag lunch.
